Bird arrested Watson Daugherty, s/o Daniel Britton Daugherty which started a feud between the two Daugherty families. 4/9/1922 Bird and sons Willie and Fisher were ambushed and killed on top of Waldens Ridge, Anderson Co; A witness Pyre Bunch stated all three were shot and killed, one was on his knees praying. Daniel Britton Daugherty and Bob Lowe stood trial and were sentenced to prison for murder.
