OLD DANIEL DAUGHERTY I(1797-12/21/1882).

This Daniel Daugherty came from SC and lived in the mountains of New River,
he settled in the old 10th CD of Anderson County about 1824,  he was a J.P.
for Anderson County, many documents have his handwriting or seal;  Solomon
Daugherty could be his father.
Daniel's 1st wife is unknown;  2nd md Mary West;  3rd md Sarah Rogers.
Daniel is buried across road at Shiloh Church Fork Mt.

William, Sally, Betsey and Charles Wesley.

(1) ELISHA DAUGHERTY(1830-1869)
(s/o Daniel I), & 1st wife, in 1850 md Nancy Byrge(1830-1905); Lish was in
Civil War, Pvt I Co 7th TN MTD INF. 12/8/1864 to 7/27/1865; Podopholine
P.O. Anderson County TN.  He contracted Rheumatism at Athens Tn.,
reported having disease of the head resulting in his death 10/7/1869.
His widow Nancy received a pension and remarried to John Daugherty(1830-
1890) 11/1874 s/o Asa Daugherty believed to be uncle of Elisha.

(s/o Elisha) in 1880 md Angeline Bray(1861-1928), d/o Joseph and Sarah M.
Bray.  Angeline had a curved spine, Daniel had to make her a special chair to
sit in;  Daniel & Angeline buried Bray Cemetery,  Anderson Co.
Several Daugherty's were named Daniel, this one was called one eyed Daniel,
he was shooting his hog rifle on sunday, it misfired, putting out one of his
eyes;  Daniel never again shot his rifle on sunday.
In 1910 census Daniel listed in Morgan County as a coal miner.
In 1920 census Daniel is listed living on New River again working as a logger
in Shea's Logging camp.
Beech Fork Creek at New River, is named Shea after the Shea brothers
logging Company.

English died August 18, 1925 at Briceville, Tennessee.  His wife Martha died
February 6, 1918, at Briceville.  They are buried in the Circle Cemetery.

Jasper, William(Bill), Joseph, Patrick Henry, Hawood;  and a daughter unknown.

Family folklore 4/1922: Byrd Daugherty was deputy Sheriff, he arrested Watson
Daugherty s/o Daniel;   This turned into a feud between the two families.
April 7 1922 Byrd and sons Willie and Fisher were headed across Waldens Ridge,
at the top of the Mt, close to the firetower,   the three men were ambushed by
Daniel Britton Daugherty and Bob Lowe;   A witness Pyre Bunch saw the entire
scene,  stating they were all shot and killed while one was on his knees praying.
Daniel Britton Daugherty and Bob Lowe were sentenced for murder.
Byrd Daugherty was s/o William and Patsy(Death Certificate).  The s/o Wm
(Trapper Bill) and G/son of Old Ell and Nancy.   Byrd, Willie and Fisher buried
in Bunch Cemetery, Rosedale.
