SEE, OLD CHARLES PHILLIPS-(1a) Hannah Laxton
ISSAC PHILLIPS(1794-1866)and wife Nancy Bunch(1800-1871); lived up Jacks
Branch near New Pilot Church, on Hwy 116, in Anderson Co-TN.
Issac and Nancy are buried at New Pilot Church; Their daughter Hannah(1818-
-1911)went by the name of Laxton, in 1843 md RANSOM JAMES (R.J.)DAVIS
(b/1815) from SC. R. J. and Hannah are buried in New Pilot Cem.
CHILDREN; Issac, Nancy, Jane, Sarah, James.
Ransom served in the Civil War CO C 2nd Tn Inf, he settled on Elijah's Fork
(Stainville) Anderson Co. In Ransom's military record Hannah his wife stated
she was born a Laxton and raised by Old Issac Phillips who married her mother.
Folklore; According to legend when the civil war started a male could pay a
large bounty and not have to fight in it; Old Issac Phillips paid this bounty
for all his sons except Issac Jr, confederates came shot and tortured him to
death, his sister Hannah witnessed this murder. Hannah also lost her son(Issac)
in the civil war, she developed a deep hatred for the confederate army, she
made vicious attacks against confederate sympathizers riding in raids with
Guerrilla bands; She poisoned traveling bands of confederate troops with
arsenic (Family Folklore).

Issac served in Civil War CO C, 2nd Tn Inf;
RECORD: Born 1843/Jackson Co TN/Occup-farmer/5'0"/fair/Blu eyes/ lgt
Hr/Medical Discharge(decay of Tibia).
According to Legend Issac broke his leg in crossing of the Ohio River,
Greenupsberg Ohio 10/1/1862. He was brought back to Clinton TN, where he
died in a military hospital; Issac never md. Buried in New Pilot Cem.

md Micajah Phillips 7/12/1860, Micajah died in
the Civil War; Micajah Phillips(1840-1862) was s/o Abraham(AB)(b/1807) and
Agness(b/1798) Phillips; Ab an Agness were parents of the Scott Co Phillips
and are buried in Phillips Cemetery at Huntsville.
Old Micajah died of typhoid fever in the Civil War at Flat Lick KY 31 May 1862;
Probably also buried there; According to family history Charles Phillips had 5
children out of wedlock by Nancy E Davis d/o Hannah Laxton and R J Davis
namely; Wm Sherman(1864-1926), Renie H(b/1868), Hannah(b/1870,
Ransom(1875-1940) and Patty(all surname Phillips).
Charles Phillips was stepbrother of Hannah Laxton he md Barzilla Kennedy.
